Pre-Requisites: Basic Firearms Knowledge (CCDW Permit)

Short Description: The Intermediate Pistol Course is composed of Two Courses:

  • Pistol - Dealing with Malfunctions Course - Intermediate/Advanced
  • Pistol - Balancing Speed and Accuracy Course - Intermediate/Advanced

Course Date:   Saturday, May 20, 2023

Ammunition:  400 rounds

Target requirements:  Basic Silhouette Targets (Provided by Marty A. Dailey)

Equipment:

  • Holster and magazine pouch - All holsters must meet the following minimum requirements: Molded for weapon; cover trigger and trigger guard; allow for on handed re-holster; muzzle down or forward orientation; some form of positive retention to include friction only
  • 3 magazines
  • Wrap around eye protection and hearing protection
  • 9 Dummy rounds in the appropriate caliber
  • Appropriate range clothing

All courses taught by Gary Quesenberry are comprehensive, hands-on programs that will advance shooter's confidence and competency with a handgun.

 

Course 1 Description:  Pistol - Dealing with Malfunctions Course - Intermediate-Advanced

The Dealing with Malfunctions Course is designed to teach shooter the primary and secondary immediate action drills required to clear handgun malfunctions. This program introduces shooters to topics such as the types of malfunctions, primary and secondary immediate actions, and threat reengagement. 

Course Subjects Include;

  • Types of Handgun Malfunctions
  • Primary Immediate Action
  • Secondary Immediate Action

 

Course 2 Description:  Pistol - Balancing Speed and Accuracy Course - Intermediate-Advanced

The Balancing Speed and Accuracy Course is designed to demonstrate techniques for maximizing speed while maintaing combat accuracy.  This program introduces shooters to topics such as front sight confidence, one hand shooting, and multiple threat engagement.

Course Subjects Include;

  • How speed affects accuracy
  • Action vs. Reaction
  • Front sight conficence
  • Finding masimum effective speed
  • Finding maximum effective distance

Other Drills (Time Permitting)

  • One-hand shooting
  • Off-hand shooting
  • Movement while shooting
  • Movement to cover

Gary will be on hand at the conclusion of the course to answer questions and discuss his new book, “Spotting Danger Before it Spots You”, He will also have signed copies available for purchase. ($25 per copy).

 

GARY QUENSENBERRY BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Gary Quesenberry was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. His love of the outdoors and patriotic spirit led him to enlist in the United States Army where he served as an Artilleryman during Operation Desert Storm. Gary later became a career Federal Air Marshal and trainer where he has devoted his life to studying the areas of violence and predatory behavior. Now Gary serves as the CEO of Q-Series LLC and has developed numerous basic and advanced level training courses focused on mental toughness, marksmanship, and defensive tactics. As a competitive pistol shooter, Gary has been featured on the History Channel’s hit television series Top Shot -Season 3 and Top Shot All-Stars. He has an extensive background in domestic and foreign counter-terror training and has worked in both the private and corporate sectors to help educate others on the importance of situational awareness, and personal safety.

 

Directions from Lexington, Kentucky to the class location:

1) Take I75 south from Lexington to Exit 97 across the KYRiver

2) Take Exit 97 and turn left(east) at the end of the rampand cross I75

3) Turn right on the gravel road behind The Allen Companylocated just over I75 on the right

4) Follow the road to the end at the long building with ared roof

5) Classroom is at the 'L' in the building

1) Take I75 north from Richmond to Exit 97 before crossingthe KY River

2) Take Exit 97 and turn right(east) at the end of the ramp

3) Turn right on the gravel road behind The Allen Companylocated just off the ramp on the right

4) Follow the road to the end at the long building with ared roof

5) Classroom is at the 'L' in the building
