Gift Certificate for the NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course

Purchase of this Gift Certificate DOES NOT GUARANTEE that the recipient is accepted into an NRA INSTRUCTOR PISTOL SHOOTING COURSE.  If the recipient cannot pass pre-authorization for the course the full value of the Gift Certificate will be refunded to the buyer.


1) NRA (BIT) Basic Instructor Training must be completed within the 24 months preceding this course

2) Pistol Instructor Pre-Course Qualification and Test 

3) NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (ILT) Instructor Led Traing Course is required before taking this course

Short Description : To develop NRA Certified Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

More Details:  The course is ten hours long and is conducted by an NRA Training Counselor in a classroom and at a shooting facility.

Pistol Instructor candidates will learn the following topics:

Introduction to NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course Outline and Lesson Plans

  1. Teaching Pistol Lesson I: Pistol Knowledge and Safe Handling
  2. Teaching Pistol Lesson II: Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting
  3. Basic Pistol Shooting Instructional Method
  4. Teaching Pistol Lesson III: Firing the First Shots
  5. Teaching Pistol Lesson IV: Scoring Targets, and Selecting and Maintaining a Pistol
  6. Evaluating and Improving Performance of Beginning Pistol Shooters
  7. Teaching Pistol Lesson V: Continued Opportunities for Skill Development

If you have attended the BIT within the preceding 24 months of this class you will not need to attend the BIT and the cost will be $275.

A pre-course Qualification will be required at the beginning of the class. If you fail the pre-course Qualification all but $75 of the cost of this course will be refunded.

All materials will be provided for you. You must supply your own ammunition for all range activities.

(BIT) Basic Instructor Training will begin at 5:00 PM and is six hours on the day before the class.

The Pistol Instructor Class will begin at 8:00 on the day of the class and is ten hours.

Bring your handgun and 300 rounds of ammunition.
